Recently, the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society published an article highlighting how Veteran Directed Care (VDC) reduces the amount of potentially avoidable health care events for enrolled Veterans when compared to other Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) purchased home and community-based services. The article, Fewer potentially avoidable health care events in rural veterans with self-directed care versus other personal care services, highlighted rural Veterans in particular to show the impact of VDC for helping Veterans stay in their homes and communities.
