Aging Strong with VA: Veteran Directed Care

Watch this episode of Aging Strong with VA (Veterans Affairs), in which Deputy Secretary Paul R. Lawrence, PhD, offers a short overview of the Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program and how it allows eligible veterans to have more control over management of their long-term care services. Dr. Lawrence explains how the program promotes independence, choice, and flexibility while maintaining accountability and support, walking listeners through how veterans can direct their own care on their own terms. Watch the brief (~1.5 minutes) video here.

National Caregiver Support Collaborative Webinar

Join ACL's National Caregiver Support Collaborative (NCSC) for a webinar highlighting innovative practices that effectively support family caregivers on Tuesday, March 24 from 2:00-3:00pm ET. NCSC offers resources and technical assistance to aging network organizations and key partners, including tribal and kinship caregiver support networks. This webinar will showcase a conversation with Pima Council on Aging (PCOA), an Arizona area agency on aging dedicated to providing innovative services that meet the changing needs of the older adults they serve. During this session, attendees will learn about actionable steps that aging, kinship, and tribal network organizations can use to implement and enhance caregiver support initiatives, even with limited resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a question-and-answer session with PCOA about their experience implementing and sustaining programs to support family caregivers. Register here.
