Here is today’s Monday Mailer for you:
ACL Caregiving Event Recording
ACL hosted an event titled The Power of Caregivers for a Healthy America: Building a Better Future Together on Tuesday, November 18 which recognized the nation’s 63 million+ family caregivers and 5 million+ direct care workers, whose dedication helps people live independently in their homes and strengthens communities across the country. Their efforts not only provide essential care but also help defer the significant costs of institutional care, forming the foundation of our long-term care system. The event celebrated these invaluable contributions and highlighted the ongoing need for investment in caregiver supports, training, and stress reduction. The event featured a special announcement from HHS Secretary Kennedy and powerful firsthand stories from family caregivers and direct service providers who bring this work to life. Watch a recording of the event here.
Johns Hopkins Memory Care Family Checklist
Johns Hopkins University, in partnership with the Maryland Information Network and the Maryland Department of Aging, developed an innovative new resource for family caregivers. The Johns Hopkins Memory Care Family Checklist will help families impacted by cognitive difficulties identify essential needs, access reliable information, and connect to tailored supports to assist in the development of a larger care plan. The Checklist integrates with 211's Community Resource Database to connect the user with up-to-date, location-specific supports based on their unique circumstances. The Checklist is currently in its pilot testing phase, and will be made available to the public in January 2026. Learn more here.
