New York Shows Impressive Results with Custom No Wrong Door Training Program
New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) worked with the Center for Aging and Disability Education and Research (CADER) at Boston University’s School of Social Work to create a customized training certificate for NY Connects the No Wrong Door system in New York State.
To improve services for older adults and individuals with disabilities, NYSOFA conducted an extensive quality assurance review of the local staff, which found that staff would benefit from more training and skill development.
NY Connects’ training is entering its third year, and staff competencies and readiness are on the rise. Those who have completed the training noted greater employee satisfaction and retention. The NY Connects director at NYSOFA says, “They feel like they’re making a difference by using new skills, which makes them feel good about their job. They are increasing their knowledge base, effectiveness, and confidence, which only helps the clients we serve.” As proof, NYSOFA is pleased to cite the local NY Connects strong client satisfaction ratings—over 90% positive. It can be downloaded and completed on the computer or printed as physical copies. Learn more here.
National MLTSS Health Plan Association Resource
The National Managed Long-term Services and Supports (MLTSS) Health Plan Association released a resource, Unlocking the Value of Enabling Technology in Managed LTSS. The report examines how enabling and assistive technologies can support independence, strengthen community-based care, and improve quality of life for individuals receiving long-term services and support, while also helping states, health plans, and providers respond to workforce shortages, rising demand, and fiscal constraints. It highlights persistent policy, operational, and payment challenges that limit adoption and offers actionable recommendations to overcome them. Developed through a multi-stakeholder workgroup of MLTSS health plan and technology leaders, the report provides guidance for federal and state policymakers, managed care organizations, providers, and technology partners.
