Here is today’s Monday Mailer for you:
National Caregiver Support Collaborative Peer Learning Series
ACL’s National Caregiver Support Collaborative invites organizations implementing the National Family Caregiver Support Program or Native American Caregiver Support Program to participate in two new action-oriented peer learning series launching this summer. Eligible participant organizations include state units on aging, area agencies on aging, Title VI programs, tribes, local service providers, Native Hawaiian providers, kinship organizations, and disability service network providers. Participants will receive expert guidance and peer support to help drive action within their organizations. Each cohort has a core topic, and sessions will be tailored to participants’ priority focus areas within that topic. Current peer learning series options include:
- Cohort 3: Building and strengthening community partnerships
- Cohort 4: Leveraging caregiver assessment to meet caregiver needs
To apply to participate in one or both cohorts, organizational leaders must submit an expression of interest by Wednesday, June 3 at 8:00 pm ET on behalf of their organization, naming up to three organizational representatives. At least one representative must hold a leadership role, have decision-making authority, or be positioned to implement or influence organizational actions based on insights gained through the learning series. Access the expression of interest form here.
Kinship Navigator Grant Opportunities
The U.S. Administration for Children and Families has released grant forecasts for two competitive kinship navigator funding opportunities. Applicants usually have less than 60 days to submit their application, starting from the date the application is posted.
- The Kinship Navigator Programs: Replications and Tribal Adaptation opportunity seeks to increase the number of state and tribal child welfare agencies that replicate and implement an evidence-based Kinship Navigator Program (KNP) rated as promising, supported, or well-supported by the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. Tribal child welfare agencies may replicate one of the approved models and adapt program manuals as needed to align with tribal policies, practices, and culture, while maintaining the model’s core components; tribal consortia are encouraged to apply. Ten organizations are expected to be awarded between $400,000-$500,000. The estimated post date for the actual application is May 25, 2026. Learn more here.
- The Kinship Navigator Programs: Evaluations opportunity seeks to support the implementation and rigorous evaluation of KNPs. The goal is to increase the number of programs that qualify for federal Title IV-E Kinship Navigator funding by building strong evidence of improved outcomes for kin caregivers and the children in their care. This opportunity is intended for states and tribal communities that are not currently operating a Title IV-E Kinship Navigator Program. Eight organizations are expected to be awarded between $400,000-$600,000. The estimated post date for the actual application is June 16, 2026. Learn more here.
Opportunity exists for aging and disability resource centers to consider partnership with local kinship care organizations as well as child welfare organizations in support of grandparents’ needs.
Commit to Connect Webinar: The Impact of Falls Prevention Programs on Social Connectedness
ACL's Commit to Connect initiative is hosting a webinar on May 12th from 12:00-1:00 pm ET on how falls prevention programming can be a powerful intervention for maintaining and rebuilding social networks.
Research demonstrates that socially connected older adults experience better balance, mobility, spatial awareness, and health. Socially isolated older adults are more likely to fall due to their reduced activity, weakened muscle strength, and depression. Older adults may also avoid situations where they feel vulnerable to falls. When individuals do so, the resulting social isolation and loneliness can potentially accelerate physical and cognitive decline. Speakers will share the role of falls prevention programs in addressing social isolation and loneliness and how they are scaling their impact. The webinar will include brief speaker presentations with time for audience Q&A. Register here.
