Here is today’s Monday Mailer for you (on a Tuesday!):
TA Community Update
- The No Wrong Door (NWD) Technical Assistance (TA) Community has recently undergone major updates! Check out the site to see how resources and materials have been reorganized. New tabs were added for each of the NWD key elements to streamline the search for related resources, and a community-wide discussion board was added to allow users to engage in conversations with their peers. Visit the TA Community here.
Medicaid Minute
- ADvancing States released two issue briefs on efforts to connect low-income Medicare beneficiaries to public services and benefits. The first brief, “Strengthening How Clients are Connected to Benefits: Findings from the 2023 Information and Referral/Assistance National Survey”, shares results from the 2023 national survey of information and referral/assistance (I&R/A) agencies and provides information on benefits screening, assistance, and outreach within I&R/A aging and disability networks. Benefits play a critical role in assisting with financial needs, helping to cover Medicare and other costs, and freeing up income to pay for an individual’s transportation, utilities, and food, among other expenses. The second brief, “Increasing Awareness and Access to Medicare Low-Income Subsidies and Other Benefits”, shares results from a survey of state aging and disabilities members, including state long-term services and supports (LTSS) directors, on efforts to inform individuals transitioning from Medicaid to Medicare about Medicare low-income subsidies. The brief draws on the promising practices of certain states to increase benefits awareness and enrollment into public benefits. Additionally, the survey provides follow-up information on states' use of benefits access initiatives, processes, and tools implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist individuals in applying for public benefits.
