Delaware: Using COVID Funds to Strengthen Critical NWD Partners

Key Partners: 211, Delaware’s Centers for Independent Living (Freedom Center for Independent Living and Independent Resource, Inc.), and the Statewide Independent Living Council

Description: With support from an ACL NWD/ADRC grant, the Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities has strengthened key NWD System capacity. Delaware purchased technology, such as laptops, mice, keyboards, smart phones, headsets, and monitors to shore up its ADRC infrastructure, enabling staff to continue to provide options counseling from anywhere at any time. In addition, the ADRC services database was enhanced, leveraging a partnership with 211 and the state's disabilities providers including the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. This database, going live at the end of November 2022, is now easily accessible on a new multi-function website available here: http://www.delawareadrc.com/. During the past six-months, 13,500 unique visitors accessed the website and almost 7,000 received options counseling. All staff participated in AIRS training to work toward certification.
