Proactive Vaccine Outreach Strategy: Missouri: COVID-19 Toolkits and Technology Workshops

Key Partners: ADRCs, State Unit on Aging, UCEDD, Division of Developmental Disabilities, MoHealth Net (Medicaid), Assistive Technology Program

The UCEDD in Missouri has been disseminating COVID-19 “conversation” tools and conducting Missouri Open Door (MOD) Workshops to bolster ADRC knowledge of assistive technology. The COVID-19 “conversation” tools (click here) use the Charting the LifeCourse framework to support a discussion for informed decision-making around vaccinations and other precautions.

The MOD Workshops (archived here) are a monthly series dedicated to providing immediate-use ideas for problem-solving and planning related to strengthening “everyday” technology knowledge. MOD workshop topics include: Decreasing Social Isolation, Building a Smart Home, Assistive Technology for My Health, Strategies for Preventing Falls, Assistive Technology for Viewing Computers and Printed Materials, Tech Tools to Keep You Organized, Back to the Basics on Staying Safe, Making Life Easier in the Kitchen, and Getting Around Your Community with Technology. They have had over 600 MOD Workshop registrants to date, representing a broad range of professional organizations and roles.

They also host a quarterly NWD Stakeholder meeting that provides an opportunity for state and local aging and disability agencies and organizations – such as AAA’s, CIL’s, and the MO Department of Health and Senior Services – to discuss barriers / challenges, successes, new information, and innovations.
